It’s an exciting and humorous adventure with Max (voiced by Louis CK), and Duke trying to get back home to their owner Katie while on the run from the pound and a group of psychotic sewer dwelling outcasts “Those who have been flushed”, led by an adorable Snow White bunny called snowball voiced by Kevin Hart.

I actually just watched him in Central Intelligence and he was much funnier in this animation then that live action film. All seems lost for Max and Duke. The neighbouring dog Gidget who fancies Max, gathers a team of other pets in the apartment building to try and rescue him and bring him home.

This plays out in a bridge battle when Gidget, who by the way is an adorable Pomeranian puppy, goes full ninja on “those who are flushed”. Finally after Max and Duke plummet off the bridge into the water in a Pound Animal Collection van, Snowball who has teamed up with Max to rescue his own buddies from the pound, dives in and helps Max in rescuing Duke from drowning in the sinking van.

There are some really funny moments animation and the animals are adorable. The design work is very well done! Fur and feathers are professionally animated and rendered and the colors are bright, light and fun.

So it’s a positive, feel good movie for kids and parents alike. I highly recommend this film for a family outing as it really has a lot of heart and love. Exploring that feeling of community and heart in the film done so successfully makes me optimistic for the industry in the future.
